The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MOID) is looking for a reputable Tanzanian for the post of Chief Executive Officer of TANZANIA NATIONAL ROADS AGENCY (TANROADS). The main functions of TANROADS are managing the maintenance and development works and operations of the network, implementing road safety and environmental measures and giving advice on the strategic framework, policies and plans for the road sector.

The Opportunity
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development wishes to recruit a Chief Executive Officer for TANROADS who will be responsible for the day to day operations and proper management of its funds, property and personnel.
Specific Duties
• Preparation of strategic and annual business plans and reporting;
• Overseeing implementation of approved strategic and business plans;
• Effective management of financial and human resources;
• Preparation of annual performance reports.
• Ensure that high quality road works for the National Roads are executed in accordance to the performance agreement.
• Ensure economical and efficient utilisation and management of the financial resources and their alignment to the approved programmes.
• Timely report to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development on implementation of the strategic business plans of the Agency.

Selection Criteria
The successful candidate should be an experienced individual with a post-graduate degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering or Transport Economist.
The candidate should be a registered member of a relevant professional body recognized by the Government.
He /she should have 20 years experience in the road sector with a minimum of 10 years of successful performance at a managerial level. The successful candidate shall hold office for a period of five years or for any other period not exceeding five years as may be specified in an instrument of his appointment and shall be eligible for re-appointment.
